10 Travel Hacks That Will Change Your Life

10 travel hacks that will change your life

As someone who travels frequently it’s no surprise that i picked up a few tips and tricks along the way. These are my top travel hacks that most people don’t know about and will change your travel experience forever.

1. Portable Battery Pack

You may be wondering why this is on there when airplanes in fact have chargers, well this may come as a surprise to you but I’ve been on hundreds of flights and a good amount of times those chargers don’t work. Also, when you are waiting to board your plane, a wall plug might not be available.

 2. Empty Water Bottle

Let’s face it, water in the airport is expensive. The markup is 4X the normal price at the airport, if not more.  What I do is bring an empty water bottle and fill it up at the drinking fountain. Voila you just saved $4.50 for a tiny bottle of water.

did you know you can bring empty water bottles through security?

3. Zipper Jacket

This is probably the one of the most overlooked things. An airplane constantly fluctuates in temperature, sometimes it gets hot sometimes it’s freezing, so having a zipper jacket or zipper hoodie is the perfect solution for easily taking off an article of clothing without disturbing your neighbor.

4. Armrest Lever Hack

I always love sitting on the end seat closest to the aisle so I can get up and walk around has frequently or as little as i’d like without disturbing other passengers. Well did you know the armrest closest to the aisle has a tiny button underneath it that allows you to adjust the armrest up? This is great for adding extra leg-room, just make sure that you move your legs out of the way when the drink cart comes down the aisle.

5. The Perfect Carry-On Travel Bag

What I love about the moshi travel bag is there are so many compartments that it can fit your computer, change of clothes, toothbrush etc. Today, your travel bag is the only thing they allow you to bring on the plane for free, it’s essential to find one that fits all your needs

6. Roll Your Clothes

One of the best ways to save space is to roll your clothes. This will allow you save tons of space in your suitcase.  Don’t forget to add stuff into your shoes, there is a lot of dead space here as well!

7. Space Saver Bags

When I moved from the US to Paris, space saver bags were a game changer. First I rolled all my clothes then used the space saver bags to suck the air right out of the bag. However, be careful on the weight of your bag, it’s easy to go over when using space saver bags.

8. Leave the Hair Dryer at Home

This is one thing that takes up a ton of space in your suitcase. So check with the hotel or Airbnb before you pack one 9 times out of 10 they are going to have one. Plus, if you are traveling internationally most of the time the converter won’t work and you will end up destroying your hairdryer.

9. Hand Sanitizer Wipes

Did you know the plane seats and tray tables are rarely cleaned? I always pack at least 2 hand sanitizer wipes per flight. When I board the plane, I wipe down the seat the armrests and the tray tables.

10. Pre-Order your Meal for International Flights

I always pre-order my meal before long international flights. The main reason for this is your food comes out first and you don't have to worry the meal you're wanting to be gone by the time the food carts arrives to your row.

  5. Ha! Great tips. I’m a firm believer of rolling clothes to create space for my luggage. But you’re right about the hand sanitizer. I need to wipe down those arm rests.
