Afternoon tea time is always a good idea, afternoon tea time at the Peninsula hotel in Paris is a great idea!! The concept of afternoon tea-time was made popular in English by Anna, the seventh duchess of Bedford in 1840. The story goes, the Duchess would get hungry in the afternoon around four PM, and would request a tray of tea, bread, and cake. This became a tradition for her and she started inviting friends to enjoy the afternoon tea-time with her. This is a tradition I have come to enjoy with my friends on a monthly basis. This week we decided to indulge in afternoon tea-time at the Peninsula in Paris, France. Much like the Duchess we booked our tea-time at four PM.

THE AMBIANCE

When we arrived to the Peninsula Paris Le Lobby to enjoy our afternoon tea time you are instantly transformed to the Belle Époque era. The elegant setting includes high ceilings and graceful gold detailing exuding charm and sophistication. What really brought this experience to the next level and made it exceptional was the staff. They were extremely friendly when welcoming us to our afternoon tea time and explaining in great detail the different teas that are offered from all over the world.

THE TEA, FOOD, AND CHAMPAGNE

Let’s dive into the food, tea and champagne that were included in the Peninsula’s afternoon tea time! Where should we start? Let’s start with the champagne. The Brut champagne was created at the Deutz winery, exclusively for the Peninsula hotel and cannot find it anywhere else but at their hotel. This light champagne can be described as fruity with a crisp, clean finish. In my opinion it is definitely worth the upgrade cost. The food includes 3 different trays, dry pastries, finger food, and my favorite the desserts also known as fresh pastries. The afternoon tea time food was extremely delicious and I ate everything on my 3 trays. As for the tea, they have several different options of tea from around the world. If not like tea and you prefer coffee you can order that instead.

WHAT TO WEAR

Given the hotel ambiance, I loved dressing up for our girls afternoon teatime at the Peninsula. I wore a short white dress, while my friend's wore a black dress, and a cute jumpsuit. Given that all 3 of us love fashion, we were a tad more overdress than some. To be safe to say, if you indulge in tea time at the Peninsula in Paris, I would recommend you wear “smart casual”

In conclusion, I HIGHLY recommend you indulge in afternoon tea time at the Peninsula in Paris! As of 2022, prices for the Peninsula Paris Team time has increased from 49 Euros per person, to 65 Euros per person, and from 63 Euros with Champagne to 85 Euros Per Person!!
