Yes, I agree, when I was in college on a student budget I couldn’t afford designer handbags either! I totally understand

I hope you enjoyed your time studying abroad in Paris, did you ever go to the Paris Opera house when you were here for a show?

Understanding the Tax Refund Service in France and Galeries Lafayette new Self Service Tax Back Refund Machines
Hello,

Thank you for your message regarding the tax refund process. I’m sorry to hear that it was closed when you passed by their office. It’s no problem to submit the paperwork manually.

I’ve outlined the entire process here https://petiteinparis.com/vat-tax-refund-process-in-paris-france/ under the title WHAT IF I FORGOT TO SUBMIT THE VAT TAX REFUND FORM OR DID THE STEPS WRONG?

I hope that helps!

Are Luxury Brands Cheaper in Paris?
Dear Nicole,

Thank you for your message! If you are taking the EuroStar and you are leaving the EU then there will be a place to drop off your Tax VAT refund at the train station. If you are not leaving the EU which you indicate you are not, then you will drop off your tax refund either at the last train station you are out or the last airport you are out before you leave the EU. I’ve written an article that outlines this entire process that you might find helpful! https://petiteinparis.com/vat-tax-refund-process-in-paris-france/

I hope you have a great time and that answers your question!

Understanding the Tax Refund Service in France and Galeries Lafayette new Self Service Tax Back Refund Machines
Dear Tess,

Thank you for your question about the tax refund process in Paris!

Great question, you will need to drop the forms off in the box before Airport Security. I would recommend that you double check in Greece to see if anything needs to be scanned as I’m not 100% familiar if they require an extra scanning (better safe than sorry).

Yes, please have any goods that you declare for the VAT tax refund with you at all times. It is unlikely but possible that they could ask to be seen.

I hope that answers your question on the tax refund policy in Paris!

Thanks,
Diane
