With the rise in popularity of Dior over the years, I’ve been getting endless amounts of questions from people asking me is Dior cheaper in Europe and if I can do a price breakdown of the pricing of Dior between the USA, Europe and Singapore. The Short Answer is YES, Dior Is cheaper in Europe or Paris.
Why is Dior Cheaper in Europe?
When I tell people Dior is cheaper in Europe they are so surprised and they always ask me why or how is Dior cheaper in Europe. For one, when you buy a Designer Brand that is made in Europe you don’t have to pay for the shipping costs, import tax, duty costs and sales tax that is all built into the price you see in your home country. The second reason main reason, which I get into more detail below, is you also qualify for the VAT Tax refund which means an extra 12% off the retail price for you… cha-ching.Â
So when in doubt, the best rule of thumb to follow is if the company is made and headquartered in Europe, the brand will most likely be cheaper in that country. For example, Dior is headquartered in Paris and therefore, is cheaper in Europe.
Price comparison of Dior in the USA vs Europe vs Singapore?
As of 2023, the Lady Dior is cheaper by over $1000 by purchasing this bag in Paris, France / Europe. The cheapest place to buy a Dior bag is in Europe, followed by Singapore and the most expensive place to buy a Dior bag is in NYC, US (see table below for pricing breakdown). How does the VAT Tax refund work in the EU?
If you live in a country outside the EU, then you qualify for the VAT Tax refund on any purchase made over €100. Lucky for you, most things at Dior fall into this category. With that being said, the VAT Tax refund on luxury brands such as Dior is 12%. Meaning that you will receive a 12% refund after you purchase this bag and leave the EU. The answer is yes, there is typically an ample amount of the Dior bags in stock. HOWEVER, It has been brought to my attention that Dior does have quotas and limits to how many Dior bags they can sell a day, so go to the Dior store early in Paris to get the best choices on bags.
Why I think a Dior Bag is worth buying…especially in Europe
The reason, why I think it's worth buying a Dior bag in Europe or Paris for that matter, is that for one it is cheaper as I outlined above, the second reason is sometimes they carry limited editions bags / colors / leather that are only available in Europe, and on top of that it will be a great memory that you bought this bag in Paris / Europe.
It is important to note, that Dior, like many other designers, continue to raise their prices every year and rarely put bags on sale. This is why I always tell people if you are considering buying a designer bag such as Dior, I recommend you do it before they raise their prices.
What if I can’t travel to Europe nor want to pay full price online?
I completely understand if you are unable to travel to Europe to purchase a Dior bag or you don’t want to pay full price on the Dior website. There are many great options to buy Dior bags secondhand and many times at a steep discount. What I love about buying the classic Dior bags preloved is that often times they are heavily discounted because they have been out for years and years.
