The black Capucines Mini was listed in this article’s 2023 comparison at AED 24,000 in Dubai and €5,300 in Paris. To compare the ticket prices on the same basis, the table below includes VAT in both cities and subtracts no tourist refund.

The exchange-rate assumption comes from the conversion used in the original 2023 example, rounded to AED 4.065 per euro. Dividing AED 24,000 by that rate gives about €5,904. Paris was therefore about €604 cheaper before refunds, measured against the Dubai price. Card conversion fees, travel costs and taxes due when bringing the bag home are not included.

How tourist VAT refunds affect the comparison
VAT is a consumption tax paid by shoppers, including residents. Eligible visitors may be able to claim a refund when they export qualifying purchases and complete the required paperwork. It is not a tax charged only to tourists. The UAE Federal Tax Authority explains how VAT works.
There is an important difference between a VAT rate and a refund percentage. At the UAE’s standard 5% VAT rate, the VAT already included in an AED 24,000 price is 24,000 × 5 ÷ 105 = AED 1,142.86. Simply subtracting 5% of AED 24,000 would remove AED 1,200, which is more than the VAT included.
The net tourist refund is smaller again after fees. For a trip now, check the FTA’s tourist-refund terms, which specify a deduction of 13% of the requested VAT amount plus AED 3.60 per tax-free transaction. Your form should show the amount you can receive after those deductions.
For Paris, the original 2023 example assumed a refund of 12% of the €5,300 purchase price: €636 back, leaving €4,664. That was a refund assumption, not France’s VAT rate or a guaranteed Louis Vuitton offer. Ask the boutique for the actual net amount on your form and check the French VAT refund conditions.

For this example, the Dubai retail price converted to a higher euro amount before either refund was considered. The comparison does not establish how much of either local price came from duties, operating costs or the brand’s pricing decisions.

Final Thoughts on LV Pricing in Paris vs Dubai
Both Paris and Dubai are wonderful places to browse luxury boutiques. For the Capucines Mini in this 2023 example, Paris had the lower ticket price. Before buying, I would compare the exact model in both markets, use the exchange rate my card will charge, and include the quoted refund and any import charges at home.
