I did self-service tax back refund machines but didn’t do paper work or drop off tax refund paperworks afterward.
I remember there were green check sign after I scanned all my tax refund papers from stores.

can i still get my tax refund? or do I need to to contact and send all the paper works (I only have pictures of the paper works?

      Dear Aileen,

Thank you for your message about the tax refund policy in Paris from Galeries Lafayette!

Did you receive a green check mark when you scanned the documents? If you received a green check mark when you scanned the documents you didn’t have to drop them into the mailbox.

If you did not receive the green check mark then you had to drop them in the mailbox at the airport in order to receive your tax back from Paris.

However, you always have the option to mail the forms as well even though you are back in America.

I hope that answers your question regarding the tax refund process in Paris from Galeries Lafayette.

      Kind Regards,
      Diane

    Dear Diane,

noted that you are the tax refund expertise for helping people to solve their tax refund problem and i m very happy to browse the web site here.
i m from Hong Kong, and i brought a Chanel handbag at paris Galeries Lafeyette at early Nov, and i picked to refund the tax to my credit card, and i still havent receive my tax refund until now, while i already receive the tax refund from the anothe Chanel bag which i brought from other Paris Chanel shop. i am a bit worried as i had sent out the enquiries email to galaries Lafayatte at taxfree@galarieslafayatte.com as shown in my tax free form, and i am not sure whether they would response me about the progress. when i was returned to Hong Kong from my last destination in London, i did all tax refund process from London airport under the assistant of staffs in London tax refund counter, i wonder whether i can really receive my tax refund by Jan 2019…as i m not familar with parisian culture, and i m worried that they would not read my english email and do not response my case. and what can i do further?? thanks for your advise!!

  6. Hi Diane,

I had purchased from dior Galleries Lafeyette (Paris) and had completed the tax refund from self help kiosk there. We left Europe from London and we had our tax form stamped at the airport. The tax form wasn’t returned to us and being taken back by the custom officer there saying they will sent the form for us.

Would like to check if that is the correct procedure because I had asked the form back for mailing but officer answered that is not necessary. Thanks.

  9. Hi there!
So I’m planning a trip to Ireland, the UK, and Paris is October of this year from Houston, Texas. Of course, I’m planning on shopping luxury while I’m there. I’m flying from and back to the States via Heathrow, but am planning on doing a majority of my shopping in Paris, and am nervous about how getting my VAT refund will work since Brexit is supposed to take place prior to my trip. I was wondering if there is any way to get everything processed in Paris before hopping back onto the Eurostar to London that you were aware of? I’ve been searching for answers relentlessly via Google, and they haven’t been much help. Thanks for any tips in advance!

Hi, I purchased some good in Galeries Lafayette last November (11th November), i got the tax refund amount in cash immediately through the machine which located at Galeries Lafayette, with a guarantee of my credit card. The customer service at the tax refund counter said that i need to collect a custom stamp within 21 days, otherwise they will charge my credit card with the amount of tax refund i got. I have done everything they told us (collect a custom stamp and put it in the mail box). However, today when i checked my credit card settlement, there is a charged in my credit card, which is the same as the amount of tax refund i got, and it is being charged by Galeris Lafayete. So what should i do now? do you have some advise? and why galeries lafayete charged my credit card when i already get a custom stamp and put it in the mail box?

`My family bought several things in the gallery Lafayette, Paris on 1 December 2018. They forgot to take the tax refund form. They have left for Malaysia. They gave me the slip of purchase. Could you give me information how can I make a refund while I am in the Netherlands now?

    Kind regards,
    Riswandy

  12. Hi, I have got the custom stamping done on the tax refund form at the Amsterdam airport. However, I didn’t have the envelope for dropping in the mail box. Where should I send the form to now.?

  13. Bonjour Dianne,

Thank you for sharing your insights on this blogpost, super helpful! Hoping you can provide some guidance as I recently purchased a few items at Galeries Lafayette. While generating the tax refund slip using the self service kiosk, I selected credit card refund and swiped my card in the machine (instead of inserting it since that approach didn’t work). Afterwards, I noticed only the words “carte bancaire” under the mode de remboursement section of the form was printed but did not see the actual credit card number listed (or even the greyed out version to ensure privacy). Given that, I’m unsure whether my credit card number was captured in the system for the tax reimbursement as other forms completed at the LV store have credit card numbers printed out on the form. Would you know if that’s to be expected?

When I scanned the forms at the PABLO machine at CDG it was approved and subsequently dropped the forms off at the bins but haven’t been able to track progress either through Global Blue (https://secure.globalblue.com/tax-free-shopping/refund-tracker) or Premier Tax Free (https://premiertaxfree.com/track-my-refund).

Curious if you know of another way (or website) to track the progress of my tax refund online?

    Merci Beaucoup!

    Mark

  14. Hey I would like to ask if my last stop is London in the UK, after doing the tax refund in Galeries Lafayette do I drop off the form in Paris or London airport? Since UK has undergone Brexit and I’m not exactly sure if the tax refund policy is still according to EU’s or not.

  15. Hi Diane,
I purchased LV bag and Mont Blanc belt at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann Paris on Nov 27. Then on Nov 30 at CDG I did the self scan for both forms (plus another 2 forms from different malls on a different date) and all the forms (total 4 forms) were confirmed & accepted. Then I put them all in one Global Blue envelope and dropped it off in the box.
Surprisingly quick I received an email on Dec 3 stating that 3 forms are already processed. And today (Dec 5) I just checked and found the tax refund for the 3 forms are paid to my credit card. However up to now there is no information on 1 form, for the mont blanc purchase. What should I do? Is it common that not all is refunded at once? Thanks

  16. Hello, how can I check status of a purchase I made at GL in Nov 2018.i understand it can take three months. But I jist want to make sure it is being taken care of. It’s a pretty big amount.
    Please advise

  17. I got the same problem as Wendy Au too and I have done all the procedure that she mentions, when the self check Pablo kiosk denied approval one of my summary tax i went to the counter for assistant for manually approval and then drop it the box.
It’s been 2 months and half and I wander is there any way that I could track the status? Which company that Galeries Lafayette using, Global blue or premier Tax? I try premier tax but no answer yet. Thanks

I didn’t get the refund and now charged me again the amount that I want to refund? What happen?

    1. Diane Coletta says:

      Dear Michelle,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the tax refund process in Paris from Galeries Lafayette. The reason you are being charged is because somewhere in the process something wasn’t done correctly.

Did you follow all the steps in the article and then drop the envelop in the mailbox at the airport?

I recommend you contact Galeries Lafayette after you identify where in the tax refund process there was an error. That way when you talk to them you can describe in detail exactly what happened.

Once again I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with the tax refund process, it can be complicated sometimes.

I hope that answers your question regarding the tax refund process in Paris from Galeries Lafayette.
