What to wear to a Garden Party in 2022

Today, I wanted to talk about a fun topic: What to wear to a garden party! One of my favorite things about the summertime is attending outdoor events. This year, one of the most popular events are garden parties. With Covid – 19, I predict that you will be seeing more and more garden parties taking place. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a simple white dress to wear to a garden party! The dress featured in the photo above is from Alamour the Label called Celine Dress.

The first thing you should take into consideration when deciding what to wear to the garden party is what the temperature is going to be. Typically, if you are attending a garden party, it will most likely be in the summer and warm. If that’s the case, then I highly recommend light colors. I wore a beige colored skirt and a simple white cami top, paired with black booties and a black purse.

In short, the perfect garden party outfit is a simple long white dress, with wedges and perhaps even a hat to block the sun. Bring a light jacket, or even a jean jacket for when the sun goes down. If you plan to be sitting down then I recommend a long dress or skirt so you can be comfortable and don’t forget to wear sunscreen!

As they say, hindsight is always 20/20. Naturally, when getting dressed up for an event or in this case a garden party, I tend to gravitate towards tall heels. This garden event was no different. However, given that heels dig into the grass, this was obviously not the smartest decision I made. My recommendation when choosing shoes for a garden party is to avoid heels. Stick to wedges, flats or tennis shoes. These are all safe bets. (As you can see from the photo above most of my friends stuck to heels and by the end of the night we were all suffering). Don’t make this same mistake.

Before you attend a garden party you should ask the host what you can bring. This typically eliminates having too much of one thing and not enough of another. If the host tells you, “you don’t need to bring anything, then a simple bottle of white wine as a thank-you gift for hosting everyone is the perfect gift”. If the host tells you they specifically need more appetizers or more dessert, than bring what they suggest.
