Best Designer Luggage in 2023

I’m all about designer luggage these days! Travel is more popular than ever, forget about dusting off your old suitcases, now is the time to upgrade to new luggage. The best designer luggage are Delsey, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Goyard and Tumi suitcases.

Is Designer Luggage worth the price?

The short answer is yes, purchasing designer luggage is worth the price! The idea of investing in designer luggage is that you will purchase one designer piece of luggage that will last a lifetime. Many designer luggage brands often guarantee their bags, especially if they get damaged.

One reason I decided to purchase designer luggage was because of its chic design. In Paris, I had little closest space and when I purchased a designer suitcase, I wanted a piece that doubled as a piece of furniture.

In my opinion, if you are going to get a designer suitcase, then I recommend it be a carry on one. That way, you can handle it with care yourself. The idea of the checked designer suitcases scares me as it typically gets thrown around.

Delsey Paris Luggage

One of my favorite suitcase brands is one I discovered while living in Paris called Delsey. Delsey suitcases have been around since 1946 and I definitely recommend investing in a Carry on Delsey suitcase. In fact, I love Delsey so much I got everyone one in my family one of their carry on pieces for their birthdays.

One of the things I love about Delsey suitcases is that they are always coming up with new and cool collaborations. They have incredible features such as a break, anti thief lock, extra lined interior, silent-glide wheels and finally it’s so lightweight.

The Delsey comes in so many colors. I got my husband the Brown Suitcases and myself the White set… Do I recommend the white Delsey Châtelet Suitcase? I recommend the white Delsey in Carry on only. For a checked bag, unless you want to buy a cover for it to keep it clean, I recommend a darker color.

Louis Vuitton Luggage

The first designer piece of Luggage I ever fell in love with was the Louis Vuitton suitcases. The Louis Vuitton luggage set were the OG, aka the original designer luggage brand. LV was the very first designer luggage and revolutionized the entire industry.

As Louis Vuitton luggage evolved over the year and became modernized for today’s travel, I can’t help but still be in love with the vintage LV pieces (Although not practical, but beautiful furniture pieces).

The Louis Vuitton Luggage set comes in the traditional Monogram LV print, Damier Ebene, Classic Black Leather and even has special edition pieces with a leather trim. For Louis Vuitton luggage, I like to turn to the second hand market in order to find some great discounts!

Hermes Luggage

The next designer suitcase I recommend is from Hermes. Yes, you read that correctly, Hermes has luggage and suitcases available for sale! Are they expensive? Definitely! The starting price for the Hermes luggage is €6700. Hermes isn’t new to the travel game, in fact, many people use their Hermes Birkin size 35 to travel with. If you have the budget for a Hermes suitcase, then I say go for it, it is such a gorgeous piece!

While the Hermes Luggage is certainly the most expensive designer luggage on the list, no doubt in my mind that it’s also the most luxurious. One of the things I love about the Hermes Luggage is how high quality it is and how the design is unstated. A few Hermes luggage accessories are available for sale on the Hermes website, but for the carry on style you will have to go to the store.

Goyard Luggage

Next on the list is another popular Parisian brand: Goyard. But did you know Goyard also makes luggage? Similar to Hermes, Goyard luggage is extremely expensive, yet uses high quality material and has a gorgeous design.

The price isn’t listed on their website, but I went to the secondhand market to see to find pricing ranging from $5k upwards to $22k. Needless to say, it is definitely an investment piece.

What I love about the Goyard luggage is it uses the same design and canvas pattern that you will see on the Goyard handbags. This is certainly a great statement piece and addition to anyone looking to add designer luggage to their collection.

Tumi Titanium Suitcase

No designer luggage list would be complete without a Tumi Suitcase! The Tumi 19 Degree Titanium International Carry-On is undoubtedly a designer suitcase worth investing in. This suitcase is perfect for someone who is looking for the most durable, high quality luggage, with a secure closure carry on bags on the market today.

If you are looking for more of an affordable suitcase by Tumi then I also recommend the aluminum / aluminum shell. This American brand has been making high-end suitcases since their launch in 1975. Tumi Suitcases are one of the best globe-trotter travel accessory.

The truth is, I love designer luggage, but only in a carry on form. As I mentioned above, checked luggage doesn’t receive the best treatment. With a carry on suitcase, you can place it in the cabin in the overhead compartment yourself. I’d love to hear from you, do you love designer suitcases? Would you ever invest or splurge on a designer carry on?

Sincerely Petite in Paris,

  1. There are two sizes of the Delsey carry-on luggage. What one do you recommend? And is that one good for flights within Europe? I understand there the sizes are different than we have on Canadian airlines. Thank you in advance!

      Hello Brenda,

I would recommend getting the international size carry on Delsey suitcase. That’s the one I have and it works great for both domestic traveling and international. Hope that helps!
